Engine & ElectronicsThe legendary TRANSALP name dates back to 1986, when it debuted as one of the first adventure touring motorcycles of its kind. The new TRANSALP has inherited the same adventurous spirit as the cult classic, delivering all-round touring performance with plenty of power, comfort and technology.
The newly developed 755cc engine produces a hard hit of top end power and mountains of usable torque in the low to mid rpm range. The result is an engine that provides usable, enjoyable performance.
Four default riding modes – Gravel, Sport, Standard and Rain – make it easy for most riding conditions and alter the level of engine power and braking, Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), Wheelie Control and level of ABS intervention. User mode allows your custom preference of each parameter, including rear ABS switch off for off-road riding. All are managed via a 5-inch TFT screen.
The Honda Assist Slipper clutch reduces the load of the clutch lever and prevents rear wheel lock-up on harsh downshifts.
Patented Air vortex flow ducts create a more uniform distribution from the side scoops into the airbox, which then feeds downdraft intakes and 46mm diameter throttle bodies, creating razor sharp pick up and throttle response.
Chassis & SuspensionThis bike is built to go the distance, so genuine comfort matters. Seat height is low for the class at 855mm (low seat is also available as an option) and the riding position is upright for natural control and leverage. The riding geometry also works well when standing up.
The R&D team used the "Friendly Toughness" as the Transalps design concept - with an aim to strike a balance between aerodynamic performance/ wind protection at speed to a sense of lightness and freedom at low speeds. The result is sleek, simple and clean bodywork with a purposeful look and feel, with zero excess and is built tough.
The compact, two-piston calipers that work dual 310mm wave discs at the front, while rear 256 mm wave disc is operated by a single-piston caliper. Combined with the with the 2-stage adjustable ABS with the ability to switch off rear ABS for off-road riding in USER mode. This provides confident braking and a sense of security whether you're on a paved road or off-road.
Lightweight and high strength construction is key to the TRANSALP formula, the structure has been optimized and the weight of each part reduced to feature a steel diamond integrated rear frame -- resulting in a weight reduction to 18.3 kg. (40.3 lb)
Balanced performance inherited from previous generations of TRANSALP to strike the perfect blend of nimble handling and comfortable touring performance on both paved and unpaved roads.
AdditionalThe 5-inch full-colour LCD multi-information display makes it easy to see and intuitively handle information. The bright, easy-to-read TFT panel allows you to concentrate on riding, while still accurately reading information. The screen is also customizable through 4 screen display options and 2 background colour options.
As expected, the TRANSALP has a lengthy list of optional accessrories to customize your bike, from heated grips, a low seat option, pannier cases as well as a skid plate and engine guards for added off-road protection.
